In East Tyrol top chefs cater for unique treats with excellent products from the region. In the comming weeks, the main square will turn into the attractive winter market

“East Tyrol de luxe“ again.


Together with the town marketing Lienz, Ernst Moser, a 2 toques chef from the restaurant Saluti implemented the conception of the second winter market. “After the successful kick-off in 2018, together with my colleagues and selected local food producers, we have created a very attractive variety of menus for this year's winter market” explained Moser. “As a special highlight of the culinary treat in the main square of Lienz, we are opening “Salettl, the smallest restaurant in East Tyrol.” A pavilion which you can book in advance for up to 4 people by ringing the phone number 0677 – 6245 6670 and enjoy an exclusive 3 course meal.


Every one of the pavilions has a theme. Under the title “East Tyrolean Pavilion”, offers excellent products from alpine dairies and regional specialities. The best confiserie, freshly roasted coffee and high-class spirits are the main focus points of other pavilions. The current meal will be cooked in the pavilion by Cafe New Petrocelli’s by Roland Kleinlercher, an experienced chef and gastronomer with many years' experience abroad, according to the guidelines of the local top chefs.


The Lienz winter market opens on 8st February and will change the main square in Lienz into a meeting place for connoisseurs. With this event and under the title “Terrace Skiing”, the Lienzer Bergbahnen and the tourist organisation of East Tyrol (TVB) invite guests to stop for a bite to eat on the “sunny terrace” of the main square of Lienz.

Information about the pavilions


The pretty pavilion that has been erected on the Johannesplatz for many years from October to the beginning of January belongs to the scene of the town of

Lienz. Originally it stood in a garden in the area of the Mühlgasse and Stegergarten. In the middle of the nineties, Maria Hopfgartner gave the

dilapidated gem to the town council of Lienz.


Experts from the town painstakingly renovated the piece and were very careful to conserve the original condition of the 3.5 metre high and 2.5 by 2.5 metre

building from spruce. Only the inside was altered to suit its new function. In 2017 a further 3 pavilions were built in the same style from town employees.
